The innards of the machine composed of 27 studios ranging from 100 – 500 sq. ft., a woodshop, a metal fabrication area, a freight elevator, hi speed wi-fi, 3,500 sq ft of community space, a dedicated staff, and a fun place to hang out. And when it’s cold outside, we got heat.
Art Making Machine formed in 2007 by three buds who wanted studio space, but found limited options in Philadelphia. A few searches on CraigsList, and boom, AMMS was born.
Since it’s inception, AMMS has expanded the amount of studios and services housed at 3000 N. Hope St., and has plans to continue to do so.
FLUXspace, the gallery that lies within the machine, holds about 10 exhibitions a year, and plays host to different events that take place in the main space of AMMS, including film screenings, performances, and much more.
